About the class:

For dancers who have completed all of Level 2, we offer a monthly Improver Topics class. Level 3 classes will focus on improving on your basic skills and making you a more confident, musical, and fun dancer!

At this level, the material is instructor's choice based on what they think will benefit students most. There is not a set syllabus.  The topic/material varies every month: always changing and always fun!

Dancers should take this level for a minimum of 6 months before considering a move to Lindy 4.

Important Level Stuff:

--This series is for rising intermediate Lindy Hoppers who have completed all 3 of our Level 2 units or have already been taking our Level 3 classes.

-- All students must be able to easily demonstrate a lindy phrase (aka 3 swingouts & a circle), tuck turns, and side-by-side Charleston.

-- If you have taken Lindy 2A/2B/2C, but are struggling to social dance the material from those classes, we recommend that you repeat Level 2 classes until you can demonstrate the material successfully.

This class is a standard Rotating Partner class, and students will change partners throughout class.

About your instructors:

Cate Rauschenberger started ballroom dancing in Georgia in 2006, but it wasn't until 2014 that the music, community, and capacity for expression of lindy hop stole her heart.

She is passionate about the multi-directional aspect of communication in partner dancing-- the conversation between musicians and dancers through the music, between a couple and anyone observing them, and between the lead and follow themselves. She loves and strives for balanced connections, playful improvisation, and musically-inspired movement in her dancing.

As a teacher, she enjoys breaking things down, building them back up, and seeing those joyful, dance "aha!" moments.

Dylan Kilpatrick
joined the RVA Swing teaching staff in 2025 and he has so many cool things to share with you, but so far a bio isn't one of them. Does anyone really read these? You tell me!👀😂
