About the class & the routines:
Each week, Cate will teach you a short original piece of choreography: every week will be something different, versus learning a long routine. This means single class registrations will also be available (advance registration/payment is still required for single classes)
This class will be aimed at students who have taken at least one solo jazz series at RVA Swing, or who already know a classic jazz routine routine like the Shim Sham, Tranky Doo, Jitterbug Stroll, etc. You don't need to be an advanced dancer, just have some basic familiarity with classic vernacular jazz steps, so that Cate can concentrate more on teaching choreo, not steps.
This class was SO much fun the last time Cate offered it. Don't miss out!

About your instructor:
Cate Rauschenberger started ballroom dancing in Georgia in 2006, but it wasn't until 2014 that the music, community, and capacity for expression of lindy hop stole her heart.
She is passionate about the multi-directional aspect of communication in partner dancing-- the conversation between musicians and dancers through the music, between a couple and anyone observing them, and between the lead and follow themselves. She loves and strives for balanced connections, playful improvisation, and musically-inspired movement in her dancing.
As a teacher, she enjoys breaking things down, building them back up, and seeing those joyful, dance "aha!" moments.
