Format: Rotating Partner (no partner required)
Pre-requisites: all students should have previous Lindy Hop or Balboa experience (ie Lindy 2A or Balboa 2)

About the class:
It's been a hot minute since we taught partnered 1920's style Charleston at the studio! Get ready to party at the upcoming Gatsby picnic by learning one of the earliest swing dances, perfect for hot 1920's jazz.
While this is primarily a partnered class, we will cover both solo and partnered elements of the dance, as well as the famous (and tricky) twisty leg styling.
Please note that this class is completely separate from/unrelated to our regular Lindy 2B: Basic Charleston series. That series covers later 1930s "Lindy" Charleston which today is part of our broader Lindy Hop repertoire as a community. 1920's Charleston is an earlier dance, danced to earlier jazz and with different mechanics and styling. This class will NOT fulfill your Lindy 2B requirement for Lindy 3 classes, it's just a fun side quest.
This class is intended for students who are already taking Level 2 classes of some variety at the studio (either Lindy Hop or Balboa). While we will cover basic material, we will move at a pace that assumes basic partner dancing knowledge, so this class will not be appropriate for new dancers.

Erica Vess & Ryan Lemar own & operate the RVA Swing studio. They have been teaching Lindy Hop, Balboa & Jazz in Richmond since 2012. Known for their patient, clear instruction and A+ joke skills, their primary goal is creating a safe, fun, & supportive learning environment for all students.
